It seems that every coffee shop has a WiFi "hot spot" wireless network, as do many of our homes. We set them up for our convenience, but tech industry insider Marty Winston warns that what's convenient for us may also be convenient for identity thieves.

Driving down the street, we saw one house that used its street address as its WiFi network address, and that was on an unsecured, open network. Identity thieves could park nearby and tap in as that homeowner logs onto banking or credit card accounts or shops online. That's dangerous.

Security settings are an included option in all WiFi gear and experts strongly encourage their use.
